EHN News, Hero of the Hour [Biden]: Kitiki #33
Man of the Moment, Virtue over Vanity
There’s a lot that can be said, and is being said about President Biden, but I thought he’s an excellent choice as the inaugural Hero for EHN News, the first of many.
On the 28th of October 2020, I wrote on Facebook post what I knew about Joe Biden. I knew…
He’s a baby-boomer [silent generation actually, born in ‘42] who’s provided information as a candidate on his taxes. He has three children, his son, Beau served in t the service. Beau died of cancer. Hunter had a drug issue and his dad stood by him to help him through it, Kitiki #3. His daughter Ashley Blazer is a social worker.
He believes in God, attended a catholic high school, takes a rosary with him, and prays
His first wife, Neilia Hunter and infant daughter, Naomi, died in a car accident. As a parent, I feel he went so deep into himself that when he weathered that valley, he was scared and scarred to the depth he gained an empathy so deep for others it made him more compassionate, caring and consoling. I feel this when he speaks. I see the mountaintop he sees. He grew up poor, stuttered, fought bullies and spent most of his life serving others and was one of the poorest members of Congress.
When President Biden became a senator at 29, he was sworn in, in his sons’ hospital room after the car accident.
His current wife, Jill, got her PhD at 55; is a schoolteacher and believes in community colleges.
He admits he’s made mistakes; wants to do better from his mistakes rather than ignore them with a bluster that demeans others and denies others’ feelings. He asks for forgiveness, realizes that accepting a pathway to death is a path he would never want anyone to take; he’s been over that road and feels the pain of others as he has spoken about the tragic losses COVID has taken from so many.
I found this out this before he became president.
And now? I think more of him now, even more than after the insurrection of Jan 6th. A president destined to go down in history as a man of honor, decency, and humility. A man who put his country first. He’s always had America’s back, our back. His Build Back Better did much to heal this country because he believes “we are the heroes,” and we are!
Reflecting today, a few days after he chose not to run for re-election, I’m still in awe of him. I sent him a letter to his Delaware home on the 1st of November, it was All Saints Day, congratulating him because I knew he was going to win. He deserved it. And he did.
He has less than a year left before leaving office and I firmly believe he’s a strategist and we still have a lot to see, as the underpinning of how he maneuvered his allies to trust him surface. He systematically and skillfully sought the last lap of this race, as he passed the baton to someone he believes in, stands behind and because of him, so do I. I do, because he is my hero. Virtue over vanity as someone said. I’m better because he was president and I can’t think of a more fitting candidate to be the inaugural hero for EHN News. And remember every vote supporting his vision is a vision supporting America.
Thank you for reading “The Man with The Key.” This post is public so feel free to share it.
NOTE: Each week there will be conversations in EHN News focusing on entertainment, heroes and new stuff for dads.
